EXE Aids WV Community After Flash Floods

July 01, 2025

Following devastating flash floods in Ohio and Marion Counties (West Virginia) in early June, Expand Energy employees sprung to action to support their neighbors — partnering with local responders and charitable organizations in coordinated disaster relief.

The company immediately committed volunteers and $50,000 to United Way of Upper Ohio Valley to assist with local response efforts. When CEO Nick Dell’Osso and members of the executive team visited the area and witnessed the level of devastation, Expand Energy pledged another $100,000 to the cause. Throughout the month of June, our SW App employees continue to volunteer their time to ongoing emergency response efforts.

A local news channel recently profiled the company’s community partnership in the article below.

Expand Energy backs Ohio County flood relief with $150K donation and boots on the ground

WHEELING, W.Va. — In the wake of this week’s devastating flooding across Elm Grove, Triadelphia, and surrounding areas, Expand Energy has stepped up in a major way—donating $150,000 to the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley to support immediate relief and recovery efforts.

According to the company, the donation will go directly toward helping local families recover and rebuild from the disaster.

But Expand Energy’s support doesn’t end with financial aid. Company employees have been on the ground throughout the week, helping neighbors clean out flooded basements, delivering supplies, and assisting with whatever is needed in the hardest-hit areas.

“Our employees live and work in these communities, and when disaster strikes, we show up,” said Stephanie Paluda, Community Affairs Manager at Expand Energy. “We’re proud of their compassion and resilience, and we’re honored to support the United Way’s incredible work during this crisis.”

Paluda, who also serves as a board member for the United Way, praised the organization’s leadership. “I know how hard Staci Stephens and her team works and the heart they put in to ensure they can help as many people as they can.”

The United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley has been a critical force in the flood response, coordinating volunteers, mobilizing resources, and providing direct support to those affected. As a local organization, 100% of donations stay within the community, assisting with emergency shelter, food, cleanup supplies, and long-term recovery needs.

“The generosity of Expand Energy and the dedication of their employees are a powerful reminder of what it means to be a good neighbor,” said Staci Stephens, Executive Director of the United Way. “This gift will make a real difference for families who have lost so much.”

Expand Energy is encouraging others to contribute by donating to the United Way’s Crisis and Disaster Fund for the June 2025 flood relief effort. Donations can be made at United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley.
