Local Matters: NE Appalachia

As North America’s largest natural gas producer, we’re working to expand opportunities in the local communities where we operate.

March 2026

Operational Update

On Feb. 18, Expand Energy reported its 2025 4Q and full year earnings results. To learn more, see our news release and presentation. Also, the company recently announced a change to its headquarters and leadership.

“In 2025, Expand Energy took clear action to meet the world’s need for affordable, reliable, lower carbon energy. In our first year since announcing the merger, we exceeded our synergy targets and improved our Haynesville breakevens by approximately 15%, while achieving double-digit production growth,” said Mike Wichterich, Interim President and Chief Executive Officer of Expand Energy. “This year-over-year improvement reflects our scale, financial strength, and capital efficiency. We’re creating more value from every molecule, and we’re in an advantaged position to meet growing demand in the power, industrial and LNG markets. In 2026, we expect to deliver higher volumes with less capital, leverage our productive capacity and flexibility to manage volatility, and consistently grow free cash flow.”

Employee Spotlight

Get to Know Steve Moyer, Environmental Supervisor – NE App

Steve Moyer

Steve works at the intersection of operations and environmental stewardship, helping ensure the company meets rigorous regulatory standards while supporting efficient field operations. Through proactive risk management and close collaboration with teams across the business, he helps Expand Energy operate responsibly and protect the communities where we work.

What initially drew you to Expand Energy?
I’m drawn to the challenge. Supporting oil and gas operations in a strict and highly regulated environmental setting requires both technical knowledge and practical problem solving. I’ve always been motivated by complex environments where the margin for error is small and expectations are high.

What might surprise people about your job or your team?
People are often surprised at how proactive the environmental team needs to be. Our work isn’t just about responding to issues or meeting regulatory requirements — it’s about anticipating risk and building systems that prevent problems before they occur.

There’s also a significant amount of data analysis and strategic planning behind the scenes. From waste tracking and spill prevention to agency reporting and audits, much of our success comes from strong internal processes that others may never see — but that are essential to keeping operations running smoothly.

What do you like to do outside of work?
I love spending time with my family (his kids are 5, 8 and 10 years old). We encourage our kids to explore a wide range of activities, and I enjoy supporting them in whatever they’re pursuing, even if it means staying busy.

I also like tackling projects around the house and spending time in my woodshop. There’s something rewarding about building or fixing things with your hands. For me, it’s a great way to reset and recharge outside of the office.

In the Community

During the past quarter, Expand Energy’s employees have been active members of their communities, supporting charitable initiatives in our operating areas. Highlights include:

  • Celebrating More than 1,500 Volunteer Hours Served: At the end of 2025, our NE App office celebrated 100% employee participation in community and charitable events in our area. Collectively the team volunteered more than 1,500 hours across nearly 75 different events ranging from support for reducing food insecurity, to youth education programs, animal welfare and financial assistance to families in need in our community.
  • Turning Compassion into Action for Animal Welfare: Expand Energy showed its support for local animal shelters through employee volunteering and company contributions. Donations were made to multiple organizations dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming abused and neglected animals, including the Happy Tails No-Kill Animal Shelter. At this facility, employees also volunteered to complete building repairs and improvements to help ensure a safe environment for animals awaiting adoption.
  • Supporting Families and Essential Services around the Holidays: The NE App team supported Operation Blue Santa, Shop with a Cop, Sirens for Santa and the Salvation Army’s Miracle of Christmas programs, helping provide gifts, clothing and necessities to local children and families during the holidays.
