Local Matters: SW Appalachia

As North America’s largest natural gas producer, we’re working to expand opportunities in the local communities where we operate.

March 2026

Operational Update

On Feb. 18, Expand Energy reported its 2025 4Q and full year earnings results. To learn more, see our news release and presentation. Also, the company recently announced a change to its headquarters and leadership.

“In 2025, Expand Energy took clear action to meet the world’s need for affordable, reliable, lower carbon energy. In our first year since announcing the merger, we exceeded our synergy targets and improved our Haynesville breakevens by approximately 15%, while achieving double-digit production growth,” said Mike Wichterich, Interim President and Chief Executive Officer of Expand Energy. “This year-over-year improvement reflects our scale, financial strength, and capital efficiency. We’re creating more value from every molecule, and we’re in an advantaged position to meet growing demand in the power, industrial and LNG markets. In 2026, we expect to deliver higher volumes with less capital, leverage our productive capacity and flexibility to manage volatility, and consistently grow free cash flow.”

Get to Know Marcie Sechrest, Field Wireless Engineer – SW App

Marcie Sechrest

As a field wireless engineer, Marcie helps keep some of the company’s remote sites connected. From leased towers to pad sites, she builds and maintains wireless communication systems that allow operations teams to safely and efficiently do their jobs. Marcie thrives in a role where every site brings a new challenge and where reliable communication depends on sharp problem solving and thoughtful planning.

Can you describe a project or moment at Expand Energy that made you especially proud?
Any time I bring a remote site online and see stable, reliable communication where there was none before, that’s a proud moment for me.

It’s a clear reminder that the work we do in the network group directly supports operations in the field. When communication is strong, everything else runs more smoothly and safely.

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about your job?
Most people don’t realize how much work goes into keeping remote sites connected. Reliable wireless communication doesn’t just happen — it takes constant monitoring, field work and strong teamwork to help ensure everything runs safely and efficiently.

And on a lighter note, one of our tower sites has a landowner who lets his donkeys roam freely. It’s one of the best parts of my day when they come up to greet me.

What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I love learning new things and picking up new hobbies. Recently, I’ve been helping to build a 1969 Chevy Camaro, starting with the wiring and mocking up the engine, which has been a fun, hands-on challenge.

I’m also my parent’s primary caregiver, and spending time with my family is incredibly important to me. Whether it’s tackling a new project or simply being present for the people I love, I value the balance between work, growth and family.

In the Community

During the past quarter, Expand Energy’s employees have been active members of their communities, supporting charitable initiatives in our operating areas. Highlights include:

  • Celebrating a Record Year for the EXE: Thanks to the support of employees, partners and sponsors, this year’s EXE Charity Clay Shoot raised more than $230,000 — the highest fundraising total for the event to date. Proceeds benefited County Emergency Response Agencies and the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley, strengthening first responder readiness and critical community programs across SW App.
  • Inspiring Future Business Leaders at Junior Achievement’s BizTown: Through our sponsorship of Junior Achievement, students from Brooke and Marshall Counties (WV) spent a day at BizTown, a simulated town that teaches real-world financial and leadership skills. Expand Energy volunteers supported the hands-on experience, helping students explore careers, manage budgets and build confidence around basic business practices and responsibilities.
  • Bringing Holiday Joy through Toys for Tots: Expand Energy was proud to sponsor the Ohio Oil and Gas Association’s Toys for Tots program, helping raise money for children’s holiday gifts across eight oil and gas producing counties in Ohio. SW App hosted a gift distribution day in Monroe County, during which volunteers assisted low-income families shopping for their children.
