Joe plays a critical role supporting the Supply Chain team’s efforts to drive efficiency and consistency across operations through data and supplier relationship building. He’s equal parts problem solver, data analyst and travel enthusiast.
How do you describe your role (or the Supply Chain team’s work) to a neighbor?
Our job is to reduce operational volatility and create value through strategic partnerships, timely and informed procurement, and contract management. My role within the team is to support our data needs and help ensure compliance with internal policies.
Supply chain in the oil and gas sector is unique. While many industries focus on physical goods, much of our work centers on services. That places a greater emphasis on relationships with suppliers, since outcomes depend not just on what is delivered, but how the work is performed. equipment needs to be set up or replaced, we’re the people who jump in to fix it.
How do relationships with suppliers contribute to safe and efficient operations?
Strong relationships — between companies, teams or individuals — are built on trust and clear communication. Whether you’re celebrating a milestone, improving a process or addressing a safety concern, having that foundation allows for more direct and productive conversations.
Establishing that trust with our suppliers has been critical to our team’s ability to solve problems quickly with safety at the forefront.
What’s something your team has improved recently that employees may not see but definitely benefit from?
It’s difficult to point to just one example. Over the course of 2025, the Supply Chain team supported nearly 300 negotiations and sourcing events, which resulted in significant optimized workflows for the company. Since the close of the merger, that number continues to grow with our scale. It’s a significant effort across the team that takes a wide variety of data, interpersonal and forecasting skills and much of it happens behind the scenes.
What do you like to do outside of work?
My wife, Lauren, and I have gotten really into traveling over the past few years. What started as a simple goal to see more of the world has turned into trips to England, France, Austria and Switzerland.
I never thought I’d be a guy whose favorite city was Paris, but I unashamedly claim it. And thanks to my wife’s planning skills, we’ve gotten comfortable putting together quick international trips. If you need a few-day itinerary for any of the countries just listed, we’ve got you covered.
You created Migration Station, a website that tracks waterfowl migration. What sparked the idea, and what have you enjoyed most about building this resource?
Migration Station started at the intersection of wanting to do something creative during 2020, my passion for waterfowling and a desire to build my programming skills. We launched it about a year later without knowing what the response would be.
The feedback has been incredibly positive. The waterfowling community is relatively small, so becoming a recognized name in that space has been especially rewarding.
