Five Questions with Lauren Kennedy, Operations Engineer – Haynesville

June 05, 2026

Lauren is an Operations Engineer in Expand Energy’s Haynesville field office, where no two days are ever the same — and that’s exactly how she likes it. From supporting field teams and keeping operations running safely to navigating life with a newborn at home, Lauren thrives in roles that require steadiness and a willingness to tackle any challenge.

What is your role at Expand Energy, and how would you describe your job to a neighbor?
I’m an Operations Engineer and the best way to describe my job is that no two days are the same.

I take on new challenges regularly and help support our field teams so we can deliver energy safely and reliably. A big part of what I do is make sure our operations run smoothly while prioritizing the safety for everyone involved.

What initially drew you to Expand Energy and what’s kept you here?
Before joining Expand Energy, I spent nearly nine years working for a service provider in the Gulf of Mexico, where my experience was focused on a single technical specialty. I saw Expand Energy as an opportunity to broaden my perspective and skill set and to gain a more comprehensive understanding of operations.

Just as importantly, the Haynesville field office is close to where I was born and raised. The chance to work and contribute in the community I grew up in meant a lot to me. That combination of professional growth and personal connection is what drew me here — and it’s what’s kept me committed to the work we’re doing.

Can you describe a project or moment at the company that has made you especially proud?
I’ve been part of several complex projects since Expand Energy’s start, but one moment that stands out was helping organize and volunteer for our charity golf tournament.

It was a great example of our team coming together outside of daily operations to give back to the community. Seeing employees step up, connect and support a meaningful cause reminded me that we’re not just colleagues, we’re part of something bigger.

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about your team?
Many people might be surprised to learn that our team is spread across four different locations. Despite the distance, we stay closely connected and collaborate effectively every day — strong communication and teamwork are essential in operations, and I’m proud of how seamlessly we work together across the miles.

Being part of a distributed team has also reinforced an important lesson for me: ask questions without hesitation, stay open-minded and be willing to adapt. There’s always something new to learn, and the more curious and flexible you are, the more you’ll grow — both individually and as a team.

What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I’m very family oriented. Recently, we welcomed our first child, a baby boy, and spending time with him is one of my greatest joys.

You can also often find me outdoors — hunting, fishing or planning our next trip — and I love cooking and trying out new recipes for friends and family. Whether it’s time on the water, a weekend getaway or simply gathering around the table for a home-cooked meal, I’m happiest making memories with the people who matter most.
