Advancing Natural Gas for a Lower Carbon Future
We deliver a lower carbon future by responsibly producing natural gas, aligning energy needs with stakeholder and climate priorities.
Achieving Our Net Zero Target
Our goal is to achieve net zero Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2035, backed by targeted capital investments and resource deployment focused on impactful emissions abatement. Our reduction approach is holistic, recognizing the opportunities for improvement across our portfolio and operational lifecycle.
Advanced Emissions Assessment
Better understand our emissions profile and adopt consistent industry reporting methodology
Operations Excellence
Utilize technology, best practices and energy efficient operations to reduce emissions
Responsibly Sourced Gas (RSG)
Expand Energy’s portfolio is 100% RSG. And, by the end of 2025, all legacy assets will have been certified under the same third-party standards: MiQ for methane and EO100™ for environmental and social metrics.
Emissions Management
Expand Energy leverages a carbon accounting program to improve the accuracy and efficiency of our GHG emissions reporting. This program increases the frequency of our GHG emissions data to better support how we evaluate and report our emissions.
Scope 1 GHG emissions:
1.63 million metric tons CO2e
Scope 2 emissions:
0.02 million metric tons CO2e
Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions intensity:
2.6
Scope 1 and 2 methane emissions intensity:
0.02%
OGMP 2.0 Initiative
By partnering with OGMP, we improve the accuracy and transparency of our methane emissions data. Our goal is to align with OGMP 2.0’s ‘gold standard’ of reporting — showing an explicit and credible path to the required reporting levels.
Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR)
We use a variety of on-site and remote detection and emissions monitoring technologies that provide consistent surveillance of our operations. Many of our leaks can be repaired upon detection by our lease operators or by our trained Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) inspectors.
